How many seconds is the match timer in a standard Rocket League game?

The story behind the answer

A standard Rocket League match has a 300-second match timer. That equals five minutes, the regulation clock used in the game’s usual Soccar matches.

The timer counts down during active play and stops for goals, kickoffs, and other stoppages. If the score is tied when regulation ends, the game normally proceeds to sudden-death overtime. The first team to score in overtime wins.

The clock does not mean every match ends exactly at five minutes. Goals and stoppages extend the real-world duration, and a tied game can continue beyond the regulation period. In addition, the ball must become dead after time expires in certain situations, so play can briefly continue after the display reaches zero.

Five minutes applies to standard matches, including common one-on-one, two-on-two, and three-on-three formats. Special modes, private-match settings, tournaments, and custom mutators can alter match rules, which is why unusual game lengths should not be mistaken for the standard timer.
