How many seasons of "Parks and Recreation" were produced?

The story behind the answer

“Parks and Recreation” produced seven seasons.

The NBC sitcom premiered in 2009 and concluded with its seventh and final season in 2015. Across those seasons, the series followed Leslie Knope and the employees of Pawnee’s Parks Department as they navigated local politics, public projects, friendships, romances, and increasingly ambitious careers.

The show aired 126 regular episodes. Its seventh season used a major time jump, moving the story into 2017 and showing how the main characters’ lives had developed several years after the sixth-season finale. The final season consisted of 13 episodes and ended with “One Last Ride.”

A later reunion special aired in 2020, but it does not count as an eighth season. That distinction explains why some viewers may remember additional “Parks and Recreation” material after the original run while the canonical season count remains seven. The program was created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur and starred Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope.
