How many seasons did The Wonder Years run?

The story behind the answer

The Wonder Years ran for 6 seasons.

The original ABC series premiered on January 31, 1988, immediately after Super Bowl XXII, and concluded on May 12, 1993. Across those six seasons, it produced 115 episodes, following Kevin Arnold from age 12 through 17 as he grew up in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The seasons were not all the same length. The first season had only six episodes, while later seasons generally had substantially more. This unusually short opening season still made a major impact: the series won Outstanding Comedy Series at the 40th Primetime Emmy Awards in 1988.

A common mix-up comes from confusing the show's six-season run with its 115 total episodes, or with the two-season 2021 reboot. The newer series shares the title but is a separate production and does not change the original show's six-season count.
