At release, 41 screens worldwide could present The Odyssey (2026) in IMAX 70mm. The total included 25 screens in the United States, nine in Canada, three in the United Kingdom, and one each in Australia, Belgium, France, and the Czech Republic.
The number was higher than the 30 IMAX 70mm venues available for Christopher Nolan’s previous film, Oppenheimer. IMAX expanded access by locating and refurbishing disused projectors and training 60 new projectionists.
IMAX Melbourne was the only venue in the Southern Hemisphere capable of showing the film in IMAX 70mm. The limited number of compatible screens made the format especially distinctive, even though The Odyssey was also released in digital IMAX, standard 70mm, 35mm, and other premium formats.
