How many Pokémon are included in Pokémon Pokopia at launch?

The story behind the answer

Pokémon Pokopia includes 300 Pokémon, selected from Generations I through IX. The roster gives the life-simulation game a broad cross-generational cast while keeping its focus on friendship and habitat restoration.

The number is not the same as the total number of species in the wider Pokémon franchise. The main series has continued adding Pokémon across generations, while an individual spin-off typically selects a curated group suited to its world and gameplay.

Pokopia also differs from many Pokémon games in how encounters work. Rather than making traditional capture battles the central activity, it emphasizes meeting Pokémon, helping them, and creating habitats that suit their needs. This makes the size of the roster especially relevant to the game’s social and building systems.

Because the selected Pokémon span Generations I through IX, the total should not be confused with the original Kanto Pokédex or a complete franchise Pokédex.
