One Quidditch team has seven players on the field in J.K. Rowling’s rules.
A team consists of three Chasers, two Beaters, one Keeper, and one Seeker. The Chasers handle the Quaffle, Beaters use bats to redirect Bludgers, the Keeper defends the goal hoops, and the Seeker searches for the Golden Snitch.
The Seeker’s capture of the Golden Snitch usually ends the match and awards 150 points, although the team with the higher score wins. This means catching the Snitch does not automatically guarantee victory.
Quidditch is played on broomsticks in the novels. Rowling developed the fictional sport as a structured school game, giving it specialized positions, scoring rules, equipment, and a distinctive vocabulary.
