A Hogwarts Quidditch team has seven players during a match.
Each side fields three Chasers, two Beaters, one Keeper, and one Seeker. The Chasers try to throw the Quaffle through one of the opposing team’s three hoops, while the Keeper defends those hoops. Beaters use bats to redirect the dangerous Bludgers, and the Seeker pursues the Golden Snitch.
Harry plays Seeker for Gryffindor at Hogwarts. The Seeker’s role is different from the other positions because catching the Golden Snitch usually ends the match and awards 150 points, although the team with the higher total score wins.
The seven-player lineup is sometimes confused with the number of scoring hoops or the three types of balls. Quidditch uses four balls in total: one Quaffle, two Bludgers, and one Golden Snitch.
