How many original seasons does Gilmore Girls have?

Gilmore Girls has seven original seasons.

The original series began in 2000 and concluded in 2007 after seven seasons. Those seasons follow Lorelai and Rory Gilmore through changing relationships, school milestones, family conflicts, and life in Stars Hollow.

The seventh season was produced after creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino left the series. David S. Rosenthal became showrunner for that final season, which is one reason fans sometimes discuss it separately from the earlier episodes.

Netflix later added Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, but that revival is a separate four-part limited series rather than an eighth original season.
