The Odyssey (2026) opened in 3,919 theaters in the United States and Canada. Its opening weekend grossed $123.5 million in those markets, giving the film the top position for the weekend.
The opening was significant for several reasons. It became the third-best opening for a Christopher Nolan film, behind The Dark Knight Rises and The Dark Knight, and it was Matt Damon’s highest debut at that time. It also became the highest live-action opening weekend for a 2026 film.
The North American performance followed substantial presale interest in IMAX and premium formats. Opening-day ticket revenue reached $51.2 million, including $17.6 million from Thursday previews, showing how strongly the film’s large-format presentation contributed to its launch.
