LeBron James has won three Olympic gold medals. He earned them with the United States men’s basketball team at the 2008 Beijing, 2012 London, and 2024 Paris Olympics.
James first appeared at the Olympics in Athens in 2004, when the United States won bronze. After that disappointing result, Team USA rebuilt its program around stronger preparation and commitment from its leading players. James helped the team go undefeated in Beijing, contributing to the United States’ first men’s basketball gold since 2000.
He also played a major role in London, where the United States defeated Spain in the final. James recorded the first triple-double in U.S. Olympic men’s basketball history during that tournament and became only the second player, after Michael Jordan, to win an NBA championship, NBA MVP award, Finals MVP award, and Olympic gold in the same year.
After a 12-year Olympic absence, James returned as Team USA captain in Paris. The United States defeated France in the final, giving James his third gold medal and making him the third male basketball player to reach that total.
