How many of the top four women’s seeds reached the 2026 US Open singles semifinals?

The story behind the answer

All four of the top four women’s seeds reached the 2026 US Open singles semifinals.

The semifinalists were Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff. They entered the tournament as seeds No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 respectively.

This was the first time in 51 years that the top four women’s seeds all advanced to the US Open semifinals. The previous comparable occurrence came in 1975, when the final four were Chris Evert, Virginia Wade, Martina Navratilova and Evonne Goolagong.

Rybakina defeated Sabalenka in the final. The achievement showed unusual consistency among the highest-ranked players, since Grand Slam draws often eliminate several top seeds before the semifinal stage.
