How many new quarter designs did the U.S. Mint issue for the 2026 United States Semiquincentennial?

The story behind the answer

The U.S. Mint issued five new quarter designs for the 2026 United States Semiquincentennial.

The one-year quarter program was authorized as part of the special coinage for the 250th anniversary. The designs commemorate the Mayflower Compact, the American Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States and the Gettysburg Address.

This program differs from the American Women Quarters series, which ran from 2022 through 2025 with multiple annual designs honoring individual women. The 2026 quarters instead use broad historical subjects connected with the nation’s founding and development.

The five-design total is easy to confuse with other 2026 semiquincentennial coin plans. The Mint also prepared special designs for denominations including the dime and half dollar, but the number five specifically refers to the quarter reverses issued for the anniversary year.
