Venus has no moons. It is one of only two planets in the Solar System without a known natural satellite, the other being Mercury.
Astronomers have occasionally reported a supposed Venusian moon. In the 17th century, Giovanni Cassini described an object later called Neith, and other observers claimed to see it. Those sightings were eventually explained as nearby stars or observational errors. Modern spacecraft and telescopic observations have found no permanent moon orbiting Venus.
Venus does have small bodies that share or nearly share its orbit, including trojan asteroids and a quasi-satellite. These objects are not moons because they do not orbit Venus directly. Some computer models also suggest that Venus may once have had a moon formed by a giant impact, but that is a hypothesis about the distant past, not a currently observed satellite.
