Twenty-eight men’s singles matches went to five sets at the 2026 US Open.
A five-set match is one in which a player must win three sets, the standard format for men’s singles at a Grand Slam tournament. The statistic counts completed matches that reached a fifth set, regardless of which player won.
Four of those 28 matches were decided by a deciding-set match tiebreak. This format can make a fifth set shorter than a traditional advantage set, while still counting as a five-set match in the tournament statistics.
The men’s singles competition began with 128 players, producing 127 matches from the first round through the final. The 28 five-setters therefore represented a substantial but minority portion of the entire men’s singles schedule.
