The South Korean boy band Seventeen has 13 members.
Seventeen debuted on 26 May 2015 under Pledis Entertainment with the extended play 17 Carat. Although the group’s name suggests a different number, its name combines 13 members, 3 sub-units, and 1 team to produce the number 17.
The members are organized into the hip-hop, vocal, and performance units. This structure gives the group distinct specialties while keeping the members together as one performing team. Seventeen is also known for substantial participation in songwriting, choreography, and production.
The number is often mistaken for the group’s membership count because of the name. The group has never had 17 members; 13 is the official number of members in the established lineup.
