There are seven main novels in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter book series.
The series follows Harry Potter from his discovery of the wizarding world through his final confrontation with Lord Voldemort. The books were published between 1997 and 2007, with one novel generally corresponding to each year of Harry’s education at Hogwarts, although the final story extends beyond a normal school year.
The seven titles are Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Readers sometimes count companion works, screenplays, or illustrated editions alongside the novels. Those publications expand the franchise, but they are not part of the seven-book main series.
