Joey Dunlop won 26 Isle of Man TT races during his career.
The Northern Irish rider built that record across an extraordinary career from 1983 to 2000. His victories came in several classes, including the Formula One, Senior, Junior, Lightweight and Singles categories. Dunlop was especially dominant during the late 1980s and 1990s, when he regularly won multiple races at the same TT meeting.
His 26 victories made him the most successful TT rider in history for many years and remain the benchmark most often associated with his name. A common mix-up is confusing Joey with his nephew Michael Dunlop, who later became one of the event’s leading winners. Another is counting podiums or class wins in other road races rather than TT race victories.
Joey’s final TT win came in 2000, when he won the Formula One race on a Honda VTR1000 SP-1. He died later that year while racing in Estonia, leaving his TT record as one of the defining achievements in motorcycle road racing.
