How many Ferrari 250 LM were produced?

The Ferrari 250 LM was produced in a total of 32 examples. Ferrari introduced the mid-engined coupé at the 1963 Paris Motor Show as a competition car intended to replace the successful 250 GTO in GT racing.

The LM was closely related to Ferrari’s 250 P sports prototype and used Pininfarina styling with Scaglietti construction. Ferrari hoped that producing enough cars would satisfy FIA homologation rules, but the required production target was not reached. As a result, the 250 LM was refused GT classification and had to compete in the faster prototype category.

Despite that setback, the model became a major racing success. A 250 LM entered by the North American Racing Team won the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans outright, driven by Jochen Rindt and Masten Gregory. A common mix-up is its engine: although the name says 250, most examples used a 3.3-liter V12 and are sometimes informally called 275 LMs.
