Pixar’s 2022 Disney+ series Cars on the Road has nine episodes. The series follows Lightning McQueen and Mater on a road trip across the United States to attend the wedding of Mater’s sister, Mato.
All nine episodes were released on Disney+ on September 8, 2022, as part of Disney+ Day. Each installment presents a different genre or setting, including a dinosaur adventure, a haunted hotel story, a monster-truck contest, and a stop connected to Route 66.
Steve Purcell created the series and directed several episodes, while Brian Fee and Bobby Podesta also directed episodes. Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy returned as the voices of Lightning McQueen and Mater, respectively.
Cars on the Road is a series of nine short episodes, not a feature film divided into nine chapters. The number can also be confused with the number of films in the main Cars feature series, which had three films by 2022.
