Five different quarter designs were authorized for the 2026 United States Semiquincentennial coinage.
The Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 authorized special semiquincentennial designs for circulating coins. The program included a series of five quarter-dollar designs, alongside anniversary designs for other denominations.
The quarter themes were connected to major parts of the nation’s founding and constitutional history. The original planning included subjects such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, abolition, women’s suffrage, and civil rights.
The coinage program also included a dime, half dollar, and one-dollar coin with commemorative designs, while cents and nickels retained their current series designs with anniversary markings. Therefore, five refers specifically to the number of quarter designs, not the total number of coin denominations included in the broader program.
