The 2026 America250 coin program authorized five different quarter designs.
The quarter program was part of a temporary redesign of circulating U.S. coins for the semiquincentennial. The five reverses were intended to represent major themes or episodes in the nation’s history, including the Mayflower Compact, the Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Gettysburg Address.
The quarter was especially suited to a multi-design program because the United States Mint had already used rotating quarter themes in programs such as the 50 State Quarters and America the Beautiful series. Each America250 quarter remained a quarter-dollar denomination even though its reverse changed.
Five designs is easy to confuse with the number of commemorative denominations or with the number of years covered by some earlier quarter programs. The America250 figure refers specifically to the number of 2026 semiquincentennial quarter reverses.
