Call of Duty: Warzone took 10 days to reach 30 million players after launch.
Warzone launched on March 10, 2020, as a free-to-play battle-royale game connected to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare but playable without purchasing that title. Its free entry point, cross-platform support, and connection to the established Call of Duty franchise helped it attract an enormous audience almost immediately.
Activision announced that six million people had downloaded the game within its first 24 hours. Ten days after launch, the player count had passed 30 million, and the growth continued: Warzone reached more than 50 million downloads in its first month and later passed 100 million players in 2021.
The wording refers to cumulative players or downloads reported by the publisher, not to 30 million people playing simultaneously. That distinction matters because “players,” “downloads,” and concurrent users measure different things. Warzone’s early success also helped establish it as a major free-to-play competitor in the battle-royale market alongside games such as Fortnite and Apex Legends.
