The United States’ 2026 semiquincentennial coinage included five commemorative quarter designs.
The special quarter program was authorized under the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020, legislation that prepared for anniversary-related coin designs as well as other future circulating-coin programs. The five quarters formed the largest group of special circulating denominations in the semiquincentennial issue.
The broader 2026 coinage program also included special designs or markings for other denominations. It covered a dime, half dollar, and one-dollar coin, while cents and nickels carried the anniversary’s dual date in the current series. Special silver and gold pieces were also produced for collectors.
The quarters are easy to confuse with the American Women Quarters Program because both involve multiple special designs. They are separate programs, although the same 2020 law authorized both. The semiquincentennial quarters specifically connect circulating American coinage with the 1776–2026 anniversary and themes from the nation’s founding and Revolutionary era.
