Finding Nemo won 1 Academy Award.
At the 76th Academy Awards, the film won Best Animated Feature. It was Pixar’s first victory in that category and helped establish the studio as a dominant force in feature animation. Producer Graham Walters accepted the award, while the film’s creative team celebrated a major milestone for Pixar.
Finding Nemo was nominated for three additional Oscars: Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score for Thomas Newman, and Best Sound Editing. It lost those categories to Lost in Translation, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, respectively.
The number can be misremembered as three because the film had four total nominations. The distinction is important: it received four nominations but won only one. The ceremony took place in 2004, although the film itself was released in 2003, which can also create confusion about the award year.
