Taylor Swift’s song “august” has a standard-edition length of 4:21.
The 4:21 duration appears in Folklore’s track listing and in the song’s individual credits. “august” sits in the middle of the album’s standard sequence, where its relatively spacious production gives room to layered guitars, strings, keyboards, and reverb.
Listeners sometimes confuse the song’s length with nearby Folklore tracks. “Cardigan” runs 3:59, “Exile” runs 4:45, and “Betty” runs 4:54. Those songs are also connected to Folklore’s fictional teenage love triangle, but each has its own separate recording length.
Folklore’s standard edition contains 16 tracks. The deluxe edition adds “The Lakes,” increasing the album’s total running time without changing the length of “august.”
