How long is a standard NHL hockey rink from end to end?

The story behind the answer

A standard NHL hockey rink is 200 feet long from end to end.

NHL rinks use a North American playing surface measuring 200 feet in length and 85 feet in width. The corners are rounded, and the rink is enclosed by boards and protective glass. The playing area is divided by the center red line and two blue lines into three zones.

The 200-by-85-foot format is smaller and narrower than the international ice-hockey standard used under IIHF rules, which is commonly 60 metres by 30 metres. Converting units can create small apparent differences because 200 feet equals 60.96 metres.

The rink's markings also have precise purposes. The goal line sits near each end, the blue lines define the offensive and defensive zones, and the neutral-zone faceoff spots sit between them. NHL arenas can differ in seating and building layout, but the regulation playing dimensions remain standardized.
