Georgia O'Keeffe attended which New York art school in 1907?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe attended the Art Students League in 1907.

After studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, O'Keeffe moved to New York and enrolled at the Art Students League. She studied there from 1907 to 1908 and worked under William Merritt Chase, a prominent American painter and teacher.

The League was founded in 1875 and became known for offering serious art education outside the more rigid structures of traditional academies. O'Keeffe won the League's William Merritt Chase still-life prize in 1908, earning a scholarship to the League's summer school in Lake George.

Her time there belongs to her academic training, but it does not fully represent the style for which she became famous. O'Keeffe later rejected conventional exercises and pursued abstraction after encountering the ideas of Arthur Wesley Dow. That shift helped distinguish her from the academic painters who had first trained her.
