America250’s America’s Field Trip contest is designed for students in grades 3–12.
The nationwide contest invites students to submit artwork, essays, poems, or other written and visual work responding to the question, “What does America mean to you?” It is intended to involve children and teenagers in the Semiquincentennial rather than limit participation to professional historians or older students.
Awardees can receive educational experiences at notable historical, cultural, and natural sites. Examples associated with the program include the National Archives Museum, Smithsonian locations, Kennedy Space Center, and Yellowstone National Park.
The contest is separate from America250’s volunteer and storytelling initiatives. Its central purpose is youth engagement through creative work, historical reflection, and visits connected with the country’s 250th anniversary.
