For the Route 66 centennial in 2026, USPS issued eight Forever stamp designs.
The commemorative stamps celebrate the historic highway during its 100th-anniversary year. Their designs feature roadside scenes and landmarks associated with Route 66, presenting the road as both a transportation route and a cultural symbol.
The number eight also reflects Route 66’s geography: the original highway crossed Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. The route was established in 1926 and became one of the best-known roads in the United States.
These are Forever stamps, meaning each remains valid for the applicable future one-ounce first-class mail rate even if postal prices rise. They should not be confused with eight states’ separate local centennial events or with historical Route 66 signs, which varied by state and period.
