America250’s 2026 semiquincentennial coinage includes five new quarter designs.
The United States Mint authorized a special circulating-coin program for the 250th anniversary of American independence. The quarter series is one part of that program, alongside special designs for a dime, half dollar, and dollar coin. The five quarter themes connect American history across several eras, including the Mayflower Compact, the Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Gettysburg Address.
The program originated in the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020, which authorized redesigns for 2026. The quarters are easy to confuse with the separate America the Beautiful and American Women Quarters programs, but those are different series. America250’s quarter designs are specifically tied to the semiquincentennial and are dated 1776–2026.
The number five is therefore the count of planned quarter designs, not the total number of commemorative U.S. coins issued for the anniversary.
