In Disney's 2013 animated film "Frozen," Elsa is crowned queen of the kingdom of Arendelle.
Arendelle is a fictional Scandinavian-inspired kingdom ruled by Elsa's family. Elsa is the elder daughter of King Agnarr and Queen Iduna, and she inherits the throne after her parents die at sea. Her coronation takes place at the beginning of the film, three years after their deaths, when the palace gates are opened for the first time in years.
The kingdom's name is sometimes confused with the Enchanted Forest, which becomes central in "Frozen II." Arendelle is the royal homeland and coastal kingdom, while the Enchanted Forest is a separate magical region connected to Elsa and Anna's family history. Elsa later remains queen at the end of the first film; in "Frozen II," she gives the throne to Anna and becomes protector of the Enchanted Forest.
