“Willow” followed Taylor Swift’s “August” in her 2021 Grammy medley.
At the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on March 14, 2021, Swift performed “Cardigan,” “August,” and “Willow” as a connected sequence. The first two songs came from Folklore, while “Willow” came from Evermore, Swift’s companion album released later in 2020.
The staging used a cottage setting. Swift began with “Cardigan,” performed “August” on guitar inside the cottage, and then moved outside for “Willow.” Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner accompanied her, marking the first time the three performed together.
Listeners sometimes remember the performance as a Folklore-only medley because two of its three songs came from that album. “Willow,” however, belongs to Evermore, making the performance a bridge between Swift’s two 2020 sister albums.
