Cars 3 was Pixar’s feature film number what?

Cars 3 was Pixar’s 18th feature film.

Released in 2017, Cars 3 followed Cars in 2006 and Cars 2 in 2011. Its story returns the focus to Lightning McQueen as he faces a younger generation of technologically advanced racers.

The film’s position can be verified by counting Pixar’s earlier theatrical features, beginning with Toy Story as number one. Finding Dory was Pixar’s seventeenth feature, so Cars 3 followed it as number eighteen.

Cars 3 is sometimes mistaken for Pixar’s nineteenth feature because later films are counted differently when short films, television projects, or films from other studios are included. The number here refers to Pixar’s theatrical feature-film release sequence.
