"Caribbean Queen" and "Loverboy" were big 80's hits by which artist?

The story behind the answer

"Caribbean Queen" and "Loverboy" were major 1980s hits by Billy Ocean, the Trinidadian-British singer whose smooth pop and R&B helped define the decade's adult-contemporary sound.

Both songs came from Ocean's 1984 album Suddenly. "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)" became his first US number-one single and won the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. The song was released under different regional titles: it appeared as "European Queen" in some markets and "African Queen" in others, with the lyrics adapted accordingly.

"Loverboy" followed as another successful single from Suddenly, reaching the top five in the United States. Ocean performed both songs at Live Aid in 1985, further cementing their place in pop history. The artist's birth name was Leslie Sebastian Charles, so quizzes sometimes confuse him with performers who used their birth names.
