San Fransokyo is a fictional coastal metropolis where robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada lives with his aunt Cass and older brother Tadashi. After Tadashi’s death, Hiro teams up with Baymax and several friends to investigate a dangerous masked villain. The city’s cable cars, steep streets, bridges, neon signs, and Japanese-style details give it a recognizable identity while keeping it separate from either real-world city.

The setting also differs from the original Marvel Comics version of Big Hero 6, whose stories were primarily associated with Japan.
