Balaidos Stadium is the home ground of which La Liga club?
Answer
Celta Vigo
Answer
Celta Vigo
Balaídos Stadium is the home ground of La Liga club Celta Vigo.
The stadium stands in Vigo, Galicia, and has been associated with Celta since its inauguration on 30 December 1928. Its official name is Estadio Municipal de Balaídos, although sponsorship has led to names such as Estadio Abanca Balaídos.
Balaídos opened with a match between Celta Vigo and Real Unión. Celta won 7–0, and the hosts’ Graciliano scored the first goal in the stadium. The venue remains owned by Vigo’s city council and operated by the club.
It is also more than a club ground. Balaídos hosted three matches at the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain. Renovations have changed its stands and facilities over time, but the stadium has continued to host Celta’s home matches. It is sometimes confused with a city-owned neutral venue, yet Celta is its long-term resident and principal tenant.
