At which velodrome did the 1992 Barcelona Olympic cycling track events take place?

The story behind the answer

The 1992 Barcelona Olympic cycling track events took place at the Velòdrom d’Horta.

The purpose-built venue was constructed in Barcelona’s Horta-Guinardó district for the 1992 Summer Olympics. It was designed by architect Bonell i Rius and featured a wooden track suitable for the high-speed Olympic programme.

The velodrome hosted both men’s and women’s track cycling, including sprint, pursuit, points and team events. Its name is often written with the Catalan spelling “Velòdrom d’Horta,” while English references may omit the accent or use the venue’s Spanish context.

The Barcelona Games were important in cycling history because mountain biking made its Olympic debut there. The track venue should not be confused with the road-cycling courses used elsewhere in the city and surrounding region.
