Fleetwood Mac reunited to perform “Don't Stop” at Bill Clinton's first presidential inauguration.
The performance occurred on January 19, 1993, during the inaugural celebrations surrounding Clinton's first term as U.S. president. “Don't Stop,” originally released by Fleetwood Mac in 1977, had become strongly associated with Clinton after he used it as a theme during his 1992 presidential campaign.
The reunion brought together the classic Rumours-era lineup: Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks. The band had not performed together in that full configuration for several years, making the appearance a major pop-culture moment as well as a political celebration.
The song's upbeat message about looking toward the future fit Clinton's campaign and inaugural image, but the performance should not be confused with a regular Fleetwood Mac tour or a new studio recording. It was a special live appearance at the inaugural gala, often described as the band's famous 1993 reunion.
