At which stadium was the first match of the 2026–27 Premier League played?
Answer
Emirates Stadium
Answer
Emirates Stadium
The first match of the 2026–27 Premier League was played at Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal hosted Coventry City there on Friday 21 August 2026. Emirates Stadium is Arsenal’s home ground in Holloway, north London, and it replaced Highbury as the club’s home stadium in 2006.
The opening fixture also gave Arsenal home advantage at the start of their title defence. Coventry, one of the season’s newly promoted clubs, travelled to London for the first match of their return to the Premier League.
Several other prominent grounds hosted opening-round matches, including the Etihad Stadium for Manchester City versus Bournemouth, St James’ Park for Newcastle United versus Liverpool and Craven Cottage for Fulham versus Chelsea.
