At which stadium was Brighton & Hove Albion’s 4–0 win over Aston Villa played on the 2026–27 opening weekend?

Brighton & Hove Albion’s 4–0 win over Aston Villa was played at the American Express Stadium.

The match took place on Sunday 23 August 2026, with Brighton hosting Aston Villa in one of the opening weekend’s two simultaneous 14:00 BST fixtures. Brighton produced the weekend’s biggest victory, winning by four goals without conceding.

The American Express Stadium is Brighton’s home ground in Falmer, East Sussex. It is also commonly known as the Amex, a short form used by supporters and football coverage.

The result gave Brighton an immediate three points and a strong goal difference. Aston Villa, by contrast, began the campaign with a heavy away defeat. The stadium should not be confused with Villa Park, Aston Villa’s home ground in Birmingham.
