Arsenal versus Coventry City was scheduled to open the 2026–27 Premier League season at Emirates Stadium.
The match was set for Friday, 21 August 2026, at 20:00 BST. Emirates Stadium has been Arsenal’s home since the club moved from Highbury in 2006, and it is located in Holloway, north London.
The venue was significant because the fixture marked Arsenal’s first league match as defending champions in the new campaign. Coventry were the visitors and were beginning their first Premier League season since returning to the division after 25 years.
A common mix-up is Highbury, Arsenal’s former home. Highbury hosted Coventry’s famous 3–0 away victory in August 1993, but the 2026–27 opener was scheduled at Emirates Stadium. Wembley is England’s national stadium and was not the venue for this league fixture.
