At which stadium did Fulham host Chelsea in the 2026–27 Premier League opener?

The story behind the answer

Fulham hosted Chelsea at Craven Cottage in the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.

The match was played on Monday 24 August 2026 and served as the final fixture of Matchweek 1. Chelsea won 3–2 at Fulham’s home ground, making the contest one of the closest results in the opening round.

Craven Cottage is located beside the River Thames in Fulham, west London. It has been Fulham’s home since the club moved there in the nineteenth century, apart from a temporary period when matches were played at Loftus Road during redevelopment.

The stadium is especially associated with its riverside setting and the historic Johnny Haynes Stand. Chelsea’s own home, Stamford Bridge, is also in west London, so the fixture was a local derby as well as a season opener. The clubs are separate from nearby Crystal Palace, Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur, who also began the campaign in London.
