At which Los Angeles home studio did Taylor Swift record vocals for “august”?

The story behind the answer

Taylor Swift recorded her vocals for “august” at Kitty Committee, her Los Angeles home studio.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many professional studios were closed or difficult to use. Swift therefore built a home recording setup at her Los Angeles residence with help from engineer Laura Sisk. This became Kitty Committee, one of the locations used to create Folklore.

The album’s remote workflow connected several studios. Jack Antonoff worked from New York City, while Aaron Dessner recorded and mixed material at Long Pond Studio in the Hudson Valley. “august” was also recorded at Rough Customer in Brooklyn, and additional instrumental recording took place at other locations.

Kitty Committee is sometimes confused with Long Pond because the album later became closely associated with the documentary Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions. Long Pond was central to the album’s production and documentary setting, but Swift’s vocal recording for “august” took place at her Los Angeles home studio.
