The 1975 Cricket World Cup final was played at Lord's in London.
The match took place on 21 June 1975, marking the first World Cup final. Lord's, often called the “Home of Cricket,” hosted the contest between the West Indies and Australia before a crowd of 26,765.
The West Indies made 291 for 8 in 60 overs, with captain Clive Lloyd scoring a century, and then dismissed Australia for 274 to win by 17 runs. Lord's also hosted the next two World Cup finals, in 1979 and 1983.
A common mix-up is confusing the final venue with other English grounds used during the tournament, including The Oval, Old Trafford, Trent Bridge and Edgbaston. The Oval hosted the semi-final between Australia and England, but the final was at Lord's.
