The Odyssey’s 2026 film stock was processed at FotoKem in Burbank, California. The laboratory handled more than two million feet of 15-perf 65mm negative film exposed during production.
FotoKem is described as the last film laboratory producing 70mm prints. The cost of the film stock alone for The Odyssey was approximately $3 million, illustrating the expense of making an unusually large-format photochemical production.
After processing, the negative was scanned and converted into high-resolution digital files so editor Jennifer Lame could make initial cuts. The negative was then cut and spliced by hand, while color grading used analog color filters on a light table. This hybrid workflow connected modern editing with traditional film finishing.
