At which 2000 trade show did Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 first appear publicly?

The story behind the answer

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 first appeared publicly at the 2000 Electronic Entertainment Expo, commonly called E3.

Its E3 showing was a non-playable demonstration, giving the public an early look at the sequel before its September 2000 release. Activision and Neversoft were presenting a follow-up to the 1999 original, with improved gameplay and several important additions. The demonstration helped establish the sequel's profile during a major industry event rather than at a consumer convention such as PAX or Gamescom.

Pro Skater 2 became especially notable for adding manuals, a level editor, and character customization. Manuals allowed players to connect tricks across surfaces, creating longer combos and making score-building more strategic. The level editor also gave players a way to construct custom skate parks.

A common mix-up is confusing the E3 debut with the game's later public demonstrations. A playable demo was subsequently included on the Jampack Summer 2K compilation distributed through PlayStation Underground. The finished PlayStation game reached North America and Europe in September 2000, followed by ports to systems including Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, and Game Boy Advance.
