At what young age did Bjork record her first album?
Answer
11 Years Old
Answer
11 Years Old
Björk recorded her first album at 11 years old. The self-titled album, Björk, was recorded in Iceland and released there in December 1977, years before she became an internationally known alternative-pop innovator.
The opportunity followed a school recital. Björk sang Tina Charles’s 1976 hit “I Love to Love,” and her teachers sent a recording to Icelandic broadcaster RÚV. After hearing it on national radio, the Fálkinn record label offered her a contract. Her stepfather, Sævar Árnason, helped with guitar on the project.
The album is often confused with Debut, her first internationally recognized solo album, released in 1993. Björk was 27 when Debut arrived, but it was not her first album overall. Her 1977 record contained Icelandic songs and translated versions of popular material, including a Beatles song.
Because Björk later became associated with electronic music, listeners sometimes assume her career began with the experimental sound of the 1990s. Her actual recording history began as a gifted child performer in Reykjavík.
