Taylor Swift’s “august” entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 23.
The debut occurred on the chart dated August 8, 2020, following the release of Folklore. Swift achieved a major chart event that week because many Folklore tracks entered the Hot 100 at once. “august” was one of the album’s highest-charting songs, even though it was not released as a traditional standalone single at the time.
The song stayed on the Hot 100 for two consecutive weeks. Its initial chart appearance reflected the enormous first-week attention surrounding Folklore, while later seasonal streaming gave it renewed visibility in other years.
This debut position is sometimes confused with the song’s rankings on other charts. “august” reached number five on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart and later peaked at number 46 on the Billboard Global 200. Those are different charts with different measurements, so number 23 specifically refers to its U.S. Hot 100 entry.
