At the 2022 Academy Awards, Valentino dressed Zendaya in a white crop top and silver skirt.
The look was created by Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli and combined a sharply cropped white shirt with a long, shimmering silver skirt. Its deliberate contrast with traditional full-length evening gowns made it one of the most recognizable outfits at the 94th Oscars.
Zendaya’s styling demonstrated how a red-carpet ensemble can remain formal without using a conventional dress silhouette. The cropped top showed a small section of midriff, while the metallic skirt supplied the ceremony’s required glamour and movement.
The outfit is often confused with Zendaya’s other major Valentino appearances, especially her bright-yellow gown at the 2021 Oscars. That earlier dress was also Valentino, but it was a completely different look and event. The 2022 ceremony was held on March 27 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
