At the 2021 Grammys, Taylor Swift’s medley containing “august” closed with “willow.”
Swift performed the medley at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on March 14, 2021. She began with “cardigan,” performed “august” inside a cottage-like stage setting, and finished with “willow.”
The first two songs came from Folklore, while “willow” came from Evermore, the sister album Swift released later in 2020. Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner accompanied Swift, marking the first time the three performed together.
The performance is sometimes remembered simply as a Folklore medley, but “willow” is not a Folklore track. Its inclusion connected the two pandemic-era albums and made the set a broader snapshot of Swift’s 2020 songwriting period.
